Lesley’s professional background is Human Resource Management. Lesley held Senior Management roles in Industry, Higher Education and the NHS. The latter part of her professional career was as Academic Head of Department and Director of the Institute of Vocational Learning, in the Faculty of Health, based at London Southbank University. During this time she also became a Governor at North East London Foundation Trust, then a Non-Executive Director at North East London Cluster, as Vice Chair for Havering Primary Care Trust. Through 2012 she was appointed by NHSE as a Chair for the Authorisation committees across the country. The following year she was appointed as Audit Chair and Lay member for Governance for a PCT within Mid and South Essex, during this tenure she also undertook the role of Deputy Chair. In 2022/3 Lesley has been appointed by two NHS Trusts as Independent Lay Chair for AAC, Consultant appointments.

For many years Lesley chaired a local charity, Tapestry, focussing on the Care of Elderly, with an emphasis on supporting clients with Dementia and now continues as a Trustee. She is also a Trustee of Gambling Harm UK which is a leading impact-driven UK Charity, dedicated to the prevention and reduction of gambling harm.
